I like writing, but how did I get here?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a veterinarian, because I loved animals so much. When I got older and realized everything that career would entail, I changed my mind. For years, people suggested I should be a lawyer, because I was apt in public speaking and knew how to argue. After I decided against that path as it didn't interest me, I dabbled in the possibility of becoming an accountant, a stylist and even a tattoo artist.

As it came time to apply to post-secondary education, I corralled some of my interests and applied them to a practical job where I wouldn't easily become bored. I wanted the possibility of traveling, to experience change, to be able to write, and I wanted to be able to meet and speak with new people on a regular basis. It became clear that I wanted to be a journalist.

I won't bore you with all the details of my CEGEP and university experience, which can be viewed in the Resume section of my website. Over the past seven years of my post-secondary career, I have continuously worked towards expanding my skillset and growing as a journalist. My love for journalism extends past simply writing; I've had the honour of telling people's stories and giving them the space to shine. The type of journalism I want to do doesn't include police reports, fires and city budgets. The type of journalism I love and want to continue doing is about small businesses, filmmakers traveling to their ancestral homeland, or people finding their passions, just as I found mine.
